Former Tiger lefthander Daniel Moskos made his Major League debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday. He pitched a perfect eighth inning in the Pirates’ 4-1 loss at Colorado. Moskos (pronounced MAH-skohs) became the fifth Tiger to play in a Major League game in 2011, joining utility player Jeff Baker (Cubs), righthander Jason Berken (Orioles), outfielder Tyler Colvin (Cubs), and lefthander Tony Sipp (Indians).
The Alta Loma, CA native was a three-year letterman (2005-07) at Clemson. He was the #4 overall pick of the 2007 draft by the Pirates, tied for the second-highest pick in Tiger history. During the 2007 season at Clemson, he was one of 50 semifinalists for the Golden Spikes Award and earned Second-Team All-ACC honors as a starting pitcher despite starting the season as a closer. In 2006, he had 10 saves as the Tiger closer. That summer, he played for Team USA.
