Winston-Salem, N.C. – The six Clemson women’s tennis competitors have been eliminated from title contention following day two of play at the ITA Carolina Regional.
All three Tigers that participated in the singles main draw fell in the opening round of competition but managed to pick up wins in each of their consolation matches. Senior Mackenzy Middlebrooks battled to a 6-3, 4-6, 10/6, victory over Western Carolina’s Jordan Strickland and freshman Ali DeSpain notched a, 6-3, 6-4, win against Ema Lazic of Duke. Freshman Eleni Louka also earned a victory over North Carolina Central’s Frida Cnossen due to walkover.
Despite being eliminated from the singles qualification bracket yesterday, Sydney Riley, Laura Marti and Zaina Nait Omar also competed in consolation games on Friday. The Tigers will take the court again on Saturday for more consolation matches.
