CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson men’s tennis upset No. 14 South Carolina, 4-2, at the ITA Kickoff in Columbia, S.C. Thursday afternoon. The victory marked Clemson’s first win in Columbia since 2011 and the program’s first set of back-to-back wins over the Gamecocks since 2006-07, following last year’s 7-0 sweep.
The win extended the Clemson’s lead in the Palmetto Series presented by the South Carolina Education Lottery to 5-1-1 in athletic competitions. More information the series’ 2025-26 edition can be found HERE.
Henrik Bladelius and Viktor Markov struck first for Clemson in doubles, defeating Daryabeigi and Stenzer 6-3. After Noa Vukadin and Romain Gales fell to Da Silva and Gazeu, Yannic Nittmann and Matisse Farzam clinched a 7-6(4) win over Karahan and Henceroth to secure the doubles point for the Tigers.
South Carolina claimed the first singles point as Daryabeigi defeated Gales 6-4, 6-2. Farzam responded with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Karahan to put Clemson back in front, 2-1. The Gamecocks evened the match again when Swaine topped Edoardo Chérié Lignière 6-4, 6-3. Clemson then closed out the match with two straight victories with Marko Mesarovic defeating Stenzer 6-4, 6-4, then Markov sealed the 4-2 team win with a 6-1, 7-6(5) victory over Da Silva.
