CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s basketball team will travel to Lincoln, Neb. on Thursday, Nov. 30 to face Nebraska in the 2017 Big Ten/ACC Women’s Basketball Challenge. This year marks the 11th consecutive year of the challenge between the two conferences, and the first time since 2012-13 that the Tigers will compete in the event.
Head Coach Audra Smith, who is entering her fifth season at the helm of the Clemson program, returns all five starters and all 13 letterwinners from her 2016-17 squad, including leading scorer, senior Nelly Perry (12.7 ppg) and leading rebounder, junior Aliyah Collier (7.9 rpg). Junior point guard Danielle Edwards and senior post Ivy Atkism also return after both started all 31 games for the Tigers last season. In addition, 2017 ACC All-Freshman Team selection Kobi Thornton is back for her sophomore season. Smith has also added three freshmen to the roster for 2017-18.

The team’s complete 2017-18 schedule will be available later this summer, but the Tigers will play home games against the 2017 NCAA Champions South Carolina and Elite Eight team Florida State, as well as several other NCAA Tournament teams from the 2016-17 season.
ABOUT THE EVENTThe ACC and Big Ten conference offices determine the schedule each season, and the official title of the Challenge rotates each year. The 2017 event will be referred to as the Big Ten/ACC Women’s Basketball Challenge and will continue to mirror the official title of the two conferences’ Challenge agreement for men’s basketball. All 14 Big Ten teams and 14 of the 15 ACC teams will participate in the 2017 Challenge. This year’s event will be played in a two-day format beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 29.
