Tigers Defeat Wichita State in Weekend Finale

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The No. 18/18 Clemson Tigers rounded out the weekend with a 9-3 victory against the Wichita State Shockers on Sunday morning in San Marcos, Texas. With the win, Clemson improved to 6-4 on the year, while Wichita State dropped to 3-5.

Freshman Mac Pavese powered the Clemson offense with four RBIs on the day off two hits and scored a run. Sophomore Corri Hicks followed with two hits, two walks, one RBI and one run scored in her outing. In total, Clemson tallied 10 hits on the day with additional shots coming at the bats of Jamison Brockenbrough, Ava Wilson, Taylor Pipkins, Kiley Channell, Macey Cintron and Kylee Johnson.

Junior Sierra Maness improved to 2-1 in the circle after pitching her first complete game of 2026. She faced 29 batters and struck out two in her sixth appearance this year. The Clemson defense also finished with one double play on the day.

Wichita State took an early lead after plating three in the top of the first. In the bottom half of the inning with one out on the board, Marian Collins connected with a pitch that brought Pavese home from second on a throwing error and made the score 3-1. Clemson tied the game in the second inning with two outs after Pavese singled by firing a ball into center field that scored Cintron and Kennedy Ariail.

After quiet third and fourth innings, Julia Knowler walked and was replaced at first as Wilson entered as a pinch runner. Pipkins singled to place Wilson at second before Channell repeated the feat, plating Wilson and advancing Pipkins to third base to give Clemson its first lead of the day.

Hicks kept the offense going in the fifth after she singled to bring Pipkins home. With Channell on third, Johnson fired a hit toward right field to score Channell and give the Tigers a 6-3 edge. The bases were loaded after Brockenbrough walked, and another single from Pavese scored Hicks from third and Johnson from second to give Pavese her third and fourth RBIs of the day, respectively. Batting through the lineup, the Tigers brought Wilson to the plate, and she notched a single of her own to plate Brockenbrough to make it 9-3 in Clemson’s favor that would hold for the remainder of the game.
