Agostino Earns Second ACC Defensive Player of the Week Award

CLEMSON, S.C. – The ACC announced on April 22nd that senior defender Summer Agostino has been named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. This is the second time that Agostino has been named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week, with the first coming after the Tigers upset then-No. 5/6 Syracuse, 9-8, and the third time a Clemson player has won the ACC Defensive Player of the Week award this season.

Agostino earned the accolade after causing a career-high and ACC season-high seven turnovers against the Pittsburgh Panthers, a mark that is also tied for the second-highest in a single-game in Division I this season, while also picking up four ground balls.

The senior defender has been a wrecking ball for opposing offenses all season having amassed 51 caused turnovers and 46 ground balls throughout the year, both being new Clemson single-season records. Both marks lead the ACC, are top-five nationally and Agostino is one of three players in the nation that have over 50 caused turnovers and over 45 ground balls. The New Yorker has had 11 games with at least three caused turnovers, 10 with at least three picked up ground balls and six in which both occur.
