National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) was chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1986 to honor female athletic achievement and recognize the importance of sports and fitness participation for all girls and women.

This year marks the 36th annual NGWSD celebration.

NGWSD Clinic - January 30, 2022

Clemson Athletics kick-started their celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) by hosting a free clinic for kids 12 and under at Littlejohn Coliseum on Sunday afternoon before the women’s basketball game against Georgia Tech.

The Sunday clinic included several student-athletes from Clemson’s women’s programs on the concourse, offering a series of skill-based challenges for kids to participate in. With over 25 student-athletes in attendance, representation was in full effect during the event. There were over 100 kids in attendance to experience this fun and unique event encouraging the youth about the impact and influential opportunities surrounding women’s sports.

The 5 pm scheduled clinic began with a goody bag and limited-edition NGWSD poster and passport giveaway at registration. Following that distribution, kids were allowed to participate in each of the sport’s skills challenges to get their passports stamped to move on to the next station. After the completion of all stations, a free t-shirt prize was rewarded.
