Athens, Ga. – In its second weekend of fall action, the Clemson men’s tennis team continued to build momentum in singles after opening the Southern Intercollegiate Championship with a 3-1 record. In addition, the Tigers went 1-3 in doubles play.
Junior Yihzou Liu registered his first win of the season over Yuval Solomon of the 2019 National Runner-Up Wake Forest squad. After battling back from a first set loss, Liu took the match 2-6, 7-5, 6-1. Senior Gabriel Diaz Freire also fell narrowly in the first set of his match with Georgia Tech’s Zummy Bauer but overcame the obstacle to take the game 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Sophomore Teodor Giusca added another win for Clemson after defeating Lane Leschly of Harvard in straight sets.
The Tigers are back in action from Athens, Georgia tomorrow morning for a round of doubles followed by two rounds of singles play.
