CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s tennis team, listed 34th in the ITA poll, will play host to the 19th-ranked Tribe of William & Mary on Sunday, Feb. 12. The teams will take to the court at 12:00 noon. The Tigers enter the match with a 1-1 record while William & Mary has compiled a 6-1 mark so far this season.
The Tigers and the Tribe have met on five previous occasions, with Clemson holding a slight, 3-2, edge in the series score. Each team has claimed one match played at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center in Clemson, SC. During the 2005 season, William & Mary defeated the Tigers in the regular season by a 6-1 margin in Williamsburg, VA. However, Clemson avenged the early loss with a 4-0 victory in the NCAA regional finals to advance to the NCAA Championships.
Clemson freshman Federica van Adrichem is listed 41st in the most recent ITA singles poll and has posted a 10-5 overall record during the fall and spring seasons. Carol Salge, a sophomore from San Roque, Brazil, is 2-0 in dual matches this season with a 9-3 overall record. In doubles play, van Adrichem has paired with senior Daniela Alvarez to earn the #19 ITA ranking with an 8-5 overall mark.
