Women’s Soccer Remains Perfect

CLEMSON, S.C.–The #4 ranked Clemson Lady Tiger soccer team won their eighth match to open the season as they defeated the Western Carolina Catamounts 4-0 today, September 17, at Historic Riggs Field.

Clemson improves their school-record start to 8-0 overall. Western Carolina falls to 5-2-1 on the season.

Sophomore Deliah Arrington continued her solid play as she scored two goals to lead the Lady Tigers. Arrington had the first goal of the match at the 12:24 mark, as she was double assisted on the play by freshman Lindsay Browne and senior Lea Shreve. Arrington would add her second goal of the game and her fifth of the year three minutes into the second half. Browne and junior Leigh Clark assisted on the play.

Clemson would score the again at the 56:19 mark on a penalty kick converted by sophomore Rachel Gallegos. Arrington was brought down in the box just by a Catamount defender to set up the goal. Sophomore Heather Beem tallied her second goal of the year seven minutes later to close out the scoring.

The Clemson Lady Tigers will play again this Friday, September 22 and Saturday September 23, as they play host to the Clemson University Invitational at Historic Riggs Field. The field includes Clemson, Furman, UNC Asheville and N.C. State. Times are set for 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. both days, with the Lady Tigers playing at 7 each day.
