Women’s Soccer Gives Furman Its’ First Loss

Clemson, S.C.–The #2 ranked Clemson Lady Tiger women’s soccer team won their 10th straight match as they defeated the previously unbeaten Furman Paladins 1-0 in the fourth and final game of the Clemson University Invitational tonight September 23 at Historic Riggs Field. Clemson, the tournament champions with a 2-0 record in the invitational, improve to 10-0 on the season. Furman loses their first game of the season and falls to 10-1 on the season. The Paladins finish the tournament with a 1-1 record, good enough for second place. Sophomore Deliah Arrington scored the matches only goal. She was assisted by freshman Lindsay Browne. This was Arrington’s sixth of the season.

Clemson records their sixth shutout of the year. The Lady Tigers also took 37 shots on goal, one night after registering a school-record 39 shots on goal versus UNC Asheville. Clemson will be in action again this Friday September 29 when they will travel to Charlottesville, VA to take on the Virginia Cavaliers in an ACC matchup. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
