Women’s Cross Country Places Second At Western Carolina Invitational

CULLOWHEE, N.C. — The Clemson women’s cross country team placed second with 64 points at the Western Carolina Invitational in Cullowhee, NC on Saturday to open the 1999 season. Georgia won the meet with 49 points. Senior Beth Ahern of Toledo, OH, led the Tigers with a fourth-place finish (18:23) on the course.

Senior Erika van Reenen (Norcross, GA) finished seventh with a time of 18:46, and senior Anne Stowell (Charlotte, NC) was ninth at 18:57. Junior Jennifer Meador (Mechanicsville, VA) was one second behind Stowell at 18:58 for a tenth-place finish.

Freshman Diane Schillow (Landsdale, PA) placed 34th with a time of 20:35, and sophomore Abbey Hartman (Ocean View, NJ) finished 45th with a time of 21:29. Freshman Helena Janecic (Osijek, Croatia) finished 55th with a time of 22:40.

Clemson will compete at the North Carolina Invitational in Chapel Hill, NC, on September 18.
