Women’s Basketball To Take On #17 Vanderbilt

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s basketball team will welcome 17th-ranked Vanderbilt to town on Tuesday night. The Lady Tigers (2-2) and Commodores (2-1) are scheduled to begin play at 7:00 pm at Littlejohn Coliseum.

Sophomore Christy Brown, who expected to return to the court tonight, leads the team with a 12.7 average, while rookie Whitney Hood is posting 10.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Spartanburg, SC native Lele Hardy owns a team-best 8.5 rebound per game figure.

The game will be aired on the Clemson Tiger Sports Network with Don Munson calling the play-by-play and Barbara Kennedy-Dixon providing color commentary. Scouting The Commodores The Commodores are coming off of an overtime loss at Indiana State on Nov. 14. They had been listed as high as #17 in the polls before the loss and are now 2-1 for the season.

Christina Wirth is averaging 17.0 points per game while Liz Sherwood is putting up 13.0. The senior center is shooting a remarkable .818 percentage from the field and has posted five blocked shots on the year. Jennifer Risper leads the team on the boards with an 8.3 rebound per game average. She has also tallied 11 steals in Vanderbilt’s three games.

Overall, the Commodores are averaging 77.3 points per game with a 52.5 shooting percentage. They are also out-rebounding their opponents by just over seven boards per game.

Clemson vs. Vanderbilt Tonight’s game between the Lady Tigers and Commodores is the first game in the series played at Littlejohn Coliseum. Vanderbilt has won the three previous meetings including two in Nashville, TN. Last season, the Commodores defeated Clemson by an 82-63 margin on their home court. The teams first met during the 1991-92 season.
