Women’s Basketball Players Travel To Turkey On Sports Mission Trip

June 9, 2009

Clemson women’s basketball players Kirstyn Wright and Lindsay Welker spent two weeks in May traveling in and around Turkey as part of the organization Sports Reach. The two were members of the program’s women’s basketball team and competed in a Sports Festival hosted by one of the top universities in Istanbul. Their team had a successful run in the games, winning the gold medal, and the players were able to spend time exploring the area and visiting famous sites.

Wright is a rising junior for the Lady Tigers. She played in 28 games during the 2008-09 season and averaged 4.4 points per game. Welker saw action in just nine games as rookie last year.

Wright and Welker wrote about their experiences in Turkey with Sports Reach. Click on the links below to read their accounts and view pictures from the trip.
