Women’s Basketball Hosts San Diego On Sunday at 2:00 PM

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s basketball team (2-6) will play host to the 3-5 San Diego Toreros on Sunday, Dec. 11 at Littlejohn Coliseum. Play is scheduled for 2:00 PM. The game will be broadcast on the Clemson Tiger Sports Network with Don Munson providing play-by-play and Kanetra Queen serving as color commentator.

Senior guard Tasha Phillips has led the Lady Tigers in scoring in the last three games, averaging nearly 20 points in the stretch. She has also collected 26 rebounds, handed out 13 assists and blocked five shots in the three contests. Tasha Taylor and Julie Talley rank number one in the conference for assists per game and three-point field goals made per game, respectively. Taylor has a 6.5 assist per game average after dishing out 52 in Clemson’s eight games, while Julie Talley has made an average of 3.38 three-point shots per game.

The Lady Tigers are also atop the conference standings for blocks per game with an 8.63 block per game average. Khaili Sanders, Amanda Frist and Taylor are also listed among the best in the individual rankings for the statistic.

Scouting the San Diego Toreros The San Diego women’s basketball team brings a 3-5 record into Littlejohn Coliseum on Sunday. The Toreros most recently fell to Georgia Tech in Atlanta on Friday night.

Senior guard Tiara Harris leads the San Diego squad with an 11.1 point per game average while shooting 46.9 percent from the field. Sabine Loewe ranks second on the team with a 9.6 scoring average, while Ashley Voisinet, a junior guard, leads the Toreros with a 6.7 rebound per game mark.

The Series Clemson and San Diego have met only once on the hardwood in history, with the Toreros pulling out a 74-73 victory last year in San Diego, CA. Julie Talley hit a three-pointer with less than 10 seconds remaining in the game to put the Lady Tigers ahead 73-72, but Sabine Loewe hit a shot just inside the arc to give her team the victory.
