White Tops Orange in Annual Intrasquad Scrimmage

CLEMSON, SC – Assistant Coach Kelsey Murphy’s white team overcame a first set loss take a 2-1 (18-25, 25-20, 25-18) win over Jodi Welp’s orange group in the 2011 installment of the Orange and White Scrimmage in Jervey Gym on Friday afternoon.  The scrimmage puts a cap on the offseason for the Tigers, who open next Friday.

Cansu Ozdemir had 12 digs on the evening, while sophomore Jen Lane had nine. Setter Kamryn Sherman led the winning team with 23 assists as well.

Kristin Faust and Alexa Rand were the leaders for the orange team,  as Rand had nine kills and nine total blocks, and Faust tallied 12 kills and 15 digs. Setter Hannah Brenner had 28 assists along with seven kills and four digs. Natalie Patzin also added eight digs on the day for white, who totaled 10.5 blocks in the three sets.

It was Clemson’s final competitive tune-up before getting into regular season play on Friday, Aug. 26 at 7:00 pm when they play host to Loyola in the Big Orange Bash. The Tigers will also take on Tennessee State and South Carolina State Saturday. Friday night’s match is Fan Appreciation Day, and the first 250 fans will receive a Clemson Volleyball towel.
