Volleyball Sweeps Rutgers to Improve to 6-0 At Home

BOX SCORE

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson’s hitters put on a show against Rutgers in leading the volleyball team to a 25-19, 25-19, 25-16 sweep of Rutgers (8-3) on Friday night in the Big Orange Bash. Clemson (7-3) improved to 6-0 within Jervey this season and claimed its first win over a Big Ten opponent since Sept. 4, 1999.

The Tigers were 2-0 on the day after claiming a 3-0 sweep of UNC Asheville, and have won 18 of 19 sets in Jervey Gym this season. After posting a stellar .396 hitting match in the afternoon, the Tigers followed it up with a .327 mark in the evening.

Camryn Hannah (15 kills), Kaylee Martin (13 kills) and Cate Long (9 kills) kept the pressure on, finishing 49.3 percent of their collective attempts on the night. There were only six lead changes in the entire match, and Clemson’s aggressive serve kept the Scarlet Knights off-balance much of the evening. Clemson totaled nine aces on the night, including four from Long, while on the other end allowed only three Knight aces on 56 attempts.

Ava Pritchard and Camryn Hannah each surpassed 400 career kills each during the first set.
