Volleyball Records Trio Of Wins In Spring Tournament

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson volleyball team recorded a trio of wins on Saturday at its spring tournament, held at Jervey Gym. Middle Tennessee State finished the day with a 3-1 record as well, while the College of Charleston went 0-4 in the event.

The Tigers opened the day with a 2-0 win over Middle Tennessee State. They edged the Blue Raiders, 25-22, in the first game and then downed them by a 25-18 margin in the second. The NCAA changed the game scores from 30 to 25 beginning with this spring season.

Clemson then defeated the College of Charleston after falling in the first game, 23-25, 25-19, 15-12.

Middle Tennessee State won 2-1 in its first match-up of the day against the Cougars (25-16, 20-25, 15-10), while the Tigers fell to the Blue Raiders in the teams’ second meeting of the day (25-17, 25-18).

Clemson concluded play in the tournament with a 2-0 win over the College of Charleston, 25-21, 25-20, while Middle Tennessee State then defeated the Cougars in two games, 25-16, 25-23, to wrap up tournament action.

The Tigers will head to California this week, as they are scheduled to face San Diego on Thursday night before competing in the 2008 Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championships on Sunday, Apr. 20.
