CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson volleyball team (11-12, 2-8 ACC) is set to host NC State (10-10, 4-6 ACC) Friday and North Carolina (5-14, 1-9 ACC) Sunday in Jervey Gym. Both matches are scheduled to stream on ACC Network Extra. Friday’s contest again the Wolf pack will serve as the Tigers’ annual Dig Pink match in conjunction with The Sideout Foundation.
Clemson is coming off a 1-1 road swing after sweeping Miami last Friday and falling in four sets against Florida State Sunday. The Tigers’ win at Miami is their first since 2009. Redshirt sophomore Brooke Bailey tied her career high of 18 kills on 36 attempts to hit .361 for the match against the Hurricanes. Bailey nearly reached her career high for the third consecutive match against Florida State, finishing with 17 kills in the Clemson’s four-set lost against the Seminoles. Additionally, freshman setter Gabby Easton was named the ACC’s Freshman of the Week Monday after averaging 12.71 assists per set at Miami and Florida State. Easton dished out 49 assists in just three sets. Her 49-assist performance is tied for the third most in a three-set match in the Division I ranks this season.
NC State enters the weekend tied for eighth in the ACC standings. The Wolfpack head into this weekend’s matchup with a 10-10 overall record and a 4-6 mark in ACC play. Senior libero Makenzie Kuchmaner ranks second in the ACC with 4.70 digs per set and Kylie Pickrell is third in the conference in assists per set with 10.67. Teni Sopitan and Melissa Evans rank eighth and 10th, respectively, in kills per set (3.56 and 3.41).
North Carolina currently ranks 15th in the conference standings as its lone conference victory came in Chapel Hill, North Carolina against NC State. The Tar Heels will look to snap their seven-match losing skid at Georgia Tech Friday before Sunday’s match in Jervey Gym Sunday. North Carolina head coach Joe Sagula is just one win away from 800 career wins and four away from 600 with the Tar Heels.
Fans are invited to participate in Halloween activities Sunday. Activities are to include face painting prior to Sunday’s match, an in-game costume contest, and post-game trick or treating for kids.
