COLUMBIA, S.C. – In its final 2018 spring scrimmage, the Clemson volleyball team defeated interstate foe Wofford, 2-1, Saturday at the University of South Carolina’s Carolina Volleyball Center. With the conclusion of the 2018 spring season, the Tigers will resume official team practice in August for the preseason.
“I thought we had a pretty good day,” said head coach Michaela Franklin. “I was proud of how we responded against Wofford on just 45 minutes of rest after playing an intense match against South Carolina. Kaylin Korte had a really good day, I thought. She was sharp in all phases of the game day today – passing, serving, attacking – really solid all-around play from her today. Emily Curtis as well had an excellent day. She was strong and consistent in the back row and I liked how she was being aggressive on the end line for us. Adria Oliver also had some big swings for us in tense and tight moments.”
“Today we came out and left it all on the court,” said Korte. “This spring was very positive and I’m so proud of this team. I can’t wait to see where we go.”
“We are finally figuring out how to grind for point and win,” said Curtis. “We still have a lot to work on but we are excited for the 2018 season. We’re coming.”
The Tigers split their pair of matches on the day at the Gamecocks’ tournament, having fallen South Carolina (2-1) in a best of three sets match.
