Clemson’s volleyball team will take on #8 seed Virginia Tech in the 25th annual ACC Tournament on Thursday in Charlottesville, VA. The Tigers and Hokies will play at 2:30 PM, the first match of the championship. The winner will then take on ACC regular season champion Georgia Tech on Friday morning at 11:00.

The Tigers concluded the regular season with an 18-13 overall record, 7-9 in the ACC. Clemson actually tied with both Maryland and Virginia Tech at 7-9, but were the #9 seed due to head-to-head records between the three schools.

Leslie Finn and Lori Ashton have been the leaders throughout the 2004 season for Clemson. Finn leads the ACC and is in the top 10 nationally at 5.58 kills per game. She set the single-season and career record at Clemson for kills. Ashton finished the regular season third in the ACC with a .364 hitting percentage.

Virginia Tech finished the 2004 ACC slate with a 7-9 record and was 13-15 overall. The Hokies were led by a pair of players, Katie Esbrook and Annie Spicer. Esbrook led the team with a .297 hitting percentage and was second to Spicer with 343 kills. Spicer led the team with 418 kills in the regular season, in addition to 350 digs.

These two teams met just once during the regular season, with Virginia Tech winning 3-0 at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, VA.
