Throughout the week leading up to the regatta, she had proven the leadership skills, decisiveness and aggressiveness needed to cox the varsity 8+. The boat posted a strong performance, defeating #19 Tennessee (a 2008 NCAA Championship participant) and Central Florida with a time of 6:33.5. Englund stated that “when a boat blends together with coxswain and rowers, there is a force of power that is unstoppable. We found that power in the V8 and used it successfully against Tennessee and UCF.”
