Tigers Playing Strong at Clemson Winter Classic

CLEMSON, SC – The No. 9 Clemson women’s tennis team continued strong play in the Clemson Winter Classic by winning three doubles matches over Division II Armstrong Atlantic and six singles matches over Brenau University. The Tigers are 6-0 in doubles and 10-0 in singles so far in the event, which concludes on Sunday beginning at 9:00 am. 

Tigers Josipa Bek and Keri Wong, ranked second in the nation in Division I, defeated Armstrong’s top doubles team, which is ranked No. 1 in Division II. The Armstrong duo knocked off Division I No. 2 Stanford doubles team in the fall. Bek and Wong jumped out to a 4-1 lead, and held on for a 9-7 victory.

Caroline Magnusson paired for a 8-2 win at flight two, and Masha Belaya and Klara Vyskocilova won 8-1 at flight three. Armstrong Atlantic is 85-2 over the last three seasons, and has won three straight National Titles.  

In singles, Clemson dropped a total of seven games in six matches as Tiger singles players improved to 40-1 on the season.
