Tigers Lose Heartbreaker To Cavaliers, 49-47

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) – Mustapha Farrakhan hit a go-ahead jumper with 35.8 seconds to play and four free throws in the final 23.9 seconds Wednesday night, rescuing Virginia after a brutal second half and giving the Cavaliers a 49-47 victory against Clemson.

The Cavaliers (12-10, 3-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) won for the second time in seven games despite being outscored 19-4 over an 11-minute stretch into the game’s final minute.

Clemson (15-7, 4-4) missed a chance to pull even for a second time in the final minute when Demontez Stitt missed the first of a one-and-one with 26.7 seconds left.

Farrakhan hit two free throws with 23.9 seconds to go, and two more with 11.4 seconds to play.
