Tigers in 4th place After Day One at the Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Clemson women’s golf finished 4th in the opening round of the Mason Rudolph Championship. The Tigers shot a team total of 286 and finished two under par after the conclusion of round one.

Oregon is in the lead after shooting 278 which was good for 12 under par.

The Tigers were led by sophomore Savannah Grewal and “Super Senior” Callista Rice, who shot team-best three under 69.  

Grewal tallied seven birdies and shot four-under on the back nine. She had back-to-back birdies twice on holes 10 and 11 as well as holes 14 and 15. 

Rice had a great start to the weekend with a round one score of a three under 69. The Mars Hill, N.C. native tallied back-to-back birdies on holes 10 and 11 and finished her day with a birdie on 18. Rice finished with only one bogey on the back nine after an even-par effort on the front nine. 

Junior Ivy Shepherd shot an even-par 72. The Peachtree City, Georgia native had two birdies on holes 1 and 4 along with two bogeys. Shepherd shot an even-par 36 on the back nine.

Freshman Katherine Schuster shot a four-over 76 to start the weekend. The freshman tallied two birdies on holes 2 and 14. 

Junior Gracyn Burgess shot a score of seven over 79. The Lexington, S.C. native kept her composure and battle back to shot an ever par 36 on the back nine.

Sophomore Annabelle Pancake, who is playing in the tournament as an individual, shot a first-round score of even-par 72. The Zionsville, Indiana native tallied four birdies.

“Really proud of the team effort today. Overall we had 21 birdies between six players. Savannah had seven on her own.”

The Tigers are back in action tomorrow for round two of the Mason Rudolph Championship.
