CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will begin the 2011-12 season with the annual Orange and White meet on Friday at the Westside Aquatic Center in Greenville. Admission is free for the public.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. instead of the previously announced 5 p.m. start due to a scheduling conflict with the facility. Clemson will use the Westside Aquatic Center during the fall semester while its home pool undergoes necessary renovations.
“The Orange and White is always a great meet to get a snapshot of where our program’s competitive attitude is for the season,” Head Coach Christopher Ip said. “We will be able to see our strengths and weaknesses in a full meet situation. The Westside Aquatic Center is our home pool for the fall semester while McHugh Natatorium is being renovated, and the Tigers need to feel comfortable and ready to defend this new turf before our first home meet with USC comes rolling around.”
The Clemson men’s program is coming off of its best season in program history, with four returners who competed at the NCAA Championships last season. The women’s program contains a core group of upperclassmen, many of whom have posted some of the top times in Clemson history.
