CLEMSON, SC – Clemson junior Meghan Steiner led the Tigers to a 3-0 sweep over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Friday night at Jervey Gym. The Crystal Lake, IL native posted a match-high 13 kills while hitting a .435 percentage on the night and posting four total blocks.

With the win, Clemson improved to 14-6 overall with a 9-3 record against ACC opponents. The loss dropped the Demon Deacons to 11-10 overall and 7-5 in the conference.

Overall, the Tigers recorded 41 defensive saves in the contest, a match they had designated as a Dig For A Cure event to raise money for the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation.

Didem Ege led Clemson with 11 digs, while Jeannette Abbott also posted a double-double in the match, with 12 kills and 10 digs. Danielle Hepburn led the Tigers at the net with seven total blocks, and setter Kelsey Murphy totaled 38 assists.

Clemson utilized a four-point rally in the first game to hold an early 15-8 advantage. The Tigers then extended their lead to 23-14 on the service of Murphy, who recorded three straight aces during the stretch. After Clemson scored its 28th and 29th points on kills by Abbott and Leslie Mansfield, Wake Forest recorded three straight points of its own to avoid game-point. Hepburn then clinched the game for the Tigers with her fourth kills of the night, as Clemson won 30-21.

The Tigers then claimed game two as well for a 2-0 lead in the match. Clemson limited the Demon Deacons to just one rally of two points or more for the 30-16 game victory. Steiner recorded six kills in seven attempts for a .857 hitting percentage in the game, while Hepburn posted five total blocks for the Tigers.

Clemson scored 13 of the first 17 points in the third game to control the final game. The Tigers led by as many as 10 points in the game at 21-11 after kills by Murphy and Abbott. Clemson went on to win the game by a score of 30-21 for their 14th victory of the season.

The Tigers will take on 25th-ranked Duke on Saturday evening, as the Blue Devils will come to town for a 6:00 pm match.
