Final Stats
Clemson, SC – Mitch Greeley broke his own school pole vault record and the school’s indoor facility record to highlight the men’s track & field showing at the 2006 Clemson Opener on Saturday. Travis Padgett also posted another NCAA provisional qualifying mark when he won the 60m dash. Will Noble also contributed high marks for the Tigers, placing first in the mile run.
Greely, a junior from Rock Hill, SC, recorded a height of 17’7.25″ to take first place in the pole vault. Greeley earned All America status last year in the indoor pole vault after finishing in a tie for eighth at the NCAA Championships. Also competing in the pole vault competition was Joey O’Rourke (15’1″) a red shirt freshman from Mt. Pleasant, who placed sixth, while Ryan Koontz (15’1″) placed tenth.
Padgett, an All-ACC selection last season indoors, won the 60m dash and posted a time of 6.73, while Corey Brown placed fourth with a time of 6.85. Padgett also placed fourth in the 200m dash with a time of 22.22 seconds. Andrew Porter, a sophomore from Budd Lake, NJ, also competed in the 200m dash with a time of 23.53.
Cowin Mills finished in the top ten of the 400m dash with a time of 49.93, which placed him seventh overall. Andrew Porter (50.63) and Corey Brown (50.64) also placed in the top twenty in the 400m dash for the Tigers.
Sophomore Will Noble, from Gray Court, SC, was the team’s top performer for the Tigers in the mile run with a time of 4:25.78 to win Saturday’s event.
Senior Jason Bell, an NCAA provisional qualifier in the indoor triple jump last year, placed third with a mark of 49’8.25″ on Saturday. Mike Feathers tied for ninth in the finals for the 60m high hurdles with a time of 8.44, which replaced his previous best of 8.58 during the 2006 indoor season.
Ryan Koontz, a senior from Statesboro, GA, also competed in the high jump and finished eighth with a mark of 6’6.75”.
The Tigers return to action January 12-13 to take part in the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, VA.
