Lexington, Ky. – Clemson’s women’s 4×100 relay team ran the fastest time in ACC history and Grace Barnett bested a 22-year old school mark in women’s 1500 as the Tigers posted qualifying marks in 10 events to advance to the NCAA Championships set for June 7-10 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
The women’s 4×100 relay team of Ranee Ricketts, Rebekah Smith, Sabria Hadley and Torie Robinson set an ACC record with a 43.31, while the women’s 4×400 team of Olivia James, Ebony Williams, Markeeta Thomas and Malayshia George ran a 3:32.67, a team best for 2017 by three seconds. On the men’s relay side, the 4-by-400 meter relay of Cordell Lamb, John Lewis, Terrell Jackson and Michael Cheeks team advanced with a 3:06.87 time.
Individually, John Lewis ran his second-fastest time of the year, the fifth-fastest in school history, in the 800 meters to punch his ticket to Eugene. Deron Gordon posted a season-best 51.17 in the 400 hurdles and Chris McBride long jumped 7.68 meters to advance to the NCAAs.
For the women’s team, Torie Robinson also qualified in the 100 meters, matching her season best with an 11.46 second run. Sabria Hadley advanced in the 200 meter with a 22.88, good for the fourth-fastest time in school history. Grace Barnett set a new school record with a 4:13.62 in the 1500M, besting Tina Krebs school record set in 1985.
