Tiger Women’s Track And Field Takes Two Events At Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Kyana Elder won the 100 meter hurdles and the Lady Tigers 4X100 relay team took first place honors, leading the Clemson women’s track team during competition at the Florida Relays over the weekend. The competition took place at the Percy Beard Track at the University of Florida.

Elder, a sophomore from Atlanta, GA, won the event with a time of 13.58, her career best time in the event. Clemson’s 4X100 relay team finished first with a 46.27 time.

Clemson also had three other Lady Tigers with top five individual finishes. Kammie Blount, a senior from Weston, CT, finished second in the javelin with a 138-2 throw. She was the ACC champion in the event in 1998.

Nyjla Littlejohn, a junior from Columbia, MD captured third place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.04. She also had a ninth place finish in the 100 hurdles. Jennifer Meador finished fourth in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:40.02.

Sheri Smith had a pair of top eight finishes. The sophomore from The Bronx, NJ was sixth in the triple jump with a 37-06 3/4 leap, and she was eighth in the long jump with a leap of 18-00 1/2. Clemson’s 4X1600 relay team took third with a time of 19:17.24.

The defending ACC Champions of Ralph White will next be in action on Saturday when they play host to the Clemson Invitational.
