Tiger Women’s Tennis Team Ranked 13th In Intercollegiate Tennis Association Poll

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s tennis team is ranked 13th according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll released on March 9. The Tigers fall one spot after being ranked 12th in last week’s poll. So far this season, Clemson is 8-2 overall and 2-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference matches.

Last week, the Tigers lost a 6-1 decision to first-ranked Georgia in Athens before returning home to open conference play. The team rebounded from the loss to the Bulldogs to defeat #75 NC State (7-0) and #29 Wake Forest (6-1) last weekend.

Clemson’s Julie Coin is ranked sixth in the ITA singles poll, improving from a ranking of eighth in the previous poll. Coin is 8-2 in singles so far this season, most recently defeating 10th-ranked Karin Coetzee of Wake Forest. Earlier this week she was named the ACC Women’s Tennis Performer of the Week for the second time this season.

The Tigers’ Daniela Alvarez is currently ranked 68th by the ITA in singles. So far this season, Alvarez is 7-2 overall and 2-0 in ACC play. Maria Brito is ranked in a tie for 91st in the latest ITA singles poll after posting a 6-4 overall record (2-0 ACC) in singles matches.

Clemson’s team of Brito and Coin is ranked seventh by the ITA in doubles. This season, the pair is 8-1 in regular season play and 2-0 in the ACC. The Tigers’ duo of Alvarez and Alix Lacelarie is currently ranked 12th in doubles and holds a 3-1 overall record and a 2-0 mark in conference doubles matches.
