Tiger Women’s Soccer Team to Face Miami in Final Home Game Thursday Night

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s soccer team will play host to Miami on Thursday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m. in its final home game of the 2008 season. Prior to the game, the Tigers will honor seniors Julie Bolt and Molly Johnson as they play in their final game at Riggs Field. Thursday’s game will be broadcast live on the Internet via ACC Select and can be viewed by clicking on the link below.

Clemson has a 5-6-1 overall record and a 1-3-1 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play. Last week, the Tigers defeated N.C. State 3-0 at home and fell to #15 Wake Forest 2-0 on the road. Julie Bolt ranks first on the team in scoring with nine goals and one assist for 19 points. The senior forward ranks first in the ACC in goals per game with a 0.90 average and is second in the league in points per game (1.90).

Junior midfielder Molly Franklin is second on the Tiger team in scoring with two goals and four assists for eight points. Sophomore goalkeeper Paula Pritzen has 49 saves in 1035 minutes in goal for Clemson.

Miami is 7-6-2 overall and 0-4-1 in the ACC, most recently falling to Florida State by a score of 2-0 in Coral Gables. The Hurricanes are led in scoring by sophomore Brittney Steinbruch with eight goals for 16 points on the season. Freshman Vicki Alonzo has recorded 73 saves and given up 15 goals in 1390 minutes in goal for Miami.

Clemson is 2-1-1 in the series against Miami, which dates back to the 2004 season. In 2007, the two teams played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie in Coral Gables, FL.
