SOUTH BEND, IN – The Clemson volleyball team dropped to 0-2 on the season as the Fairfield Stags (1-1) defeated the Tigers 3-0 (15-6, 15-13, 15-12) at the Shamrock Invitational.
The Tigers were led by Jodi Steffes who recorded 16 kills, a match-high 22 digs, five block assists, and four assists. Meredith Kirtland tallied 13 kills and 11 digs while Laura Jensen added 12 kills with 13 digs. Jessi Betcher had a team-high 42 assists with two service aces, nine digs, and two block assists. Jackie Dalleska led all blockers with two solo blocks and four block assists.
Joanne Saunders led the Stags with 21 kills and 11 digs while Conny Paul added 13 kills and 14 digs. Meghan Mahaffy tallied 47 assists with seven digs, and Joanne Suanders had a game-high four service aces.
Clemson plays #28 Notre Dame (2-0) Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the final game of the Shamrock Invitational.
