Clemson, SC –
Junior infielders Brad Miller (#35) and John Hinson (#75) along with junior outfielder/lefthander Will Lamb (#84) were all rated among the top-100 college prospects for the 2011 Major League draft by Baseball America on Monday. Only four schools (Texas (5), Vanderbilt (5), Cal State Fullerton (4), TCU (4)) had more players in the top 100, while Arizona State, California, Clemson, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Southern California, and Virginia all had three on the list.
Miller, a native of Windermere, FL, hit a team-high .357 with 19 doubles, four triples, eight homers, 49 RBIs, and a .458 on-base percentage in 2010. The two-time member of the USA National team and 2010 All-ACC Academic team member finished the 2010 season in the top 10 in the ACC in walks, runs, hits, sacrifice flies, triples, and on-base percentage. Miller also batted .402 with a .533 on-base percentage, both marks second-best in the league, in ACC regular-season games and hit safely in 30 of his last 32 overall games in 2010.
Hinson, a native of Asheville, NC, batted .351 with 17 homers, nine doubles, 75 RBIs, and a team-high 25 steals in 2010. He was second in the ACC in steals, fourth in RBIs, and tied for sixth in homers. Hinson was also named Auburn Regional MVP and was chosen to the All-College World Series team after going 7-for-16 (.438) in Omaha. He was later drafted in the 13th round by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2010 Major League draft, but elected to return to Clemson for his junior season.
Lamb, a native of Seaford, VA, batted .289 with six doubles, two triples, four homers, 36 RBIs, 42 runs, and 14 steals in 14 attempts in 52 games (42 starts) in the field in 2010. On the mound, the lefthander was 4-4 with two saves and a 5.02 ERA in 18 appearances (10 starts).
