CLEMSON, SC – Prior to Saturday’s game with Wake Forest, Clemson junior guard Tanner Smith was presented the 2011 C.J. Spiller Award. Created last year, the award was given to a student-athlete in appreciation of their dedication through athletic endeavors, commitment to academics, and exceptional representation of Clemson University to the community, state and country.
Smith is averaging 7.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game this season and has started 24 games out of the 26 in which he has played. Smith leads the team in charges taken (15) and is third in assists (76), three-point goals (26) and steals (31).
He is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District III selection and two-time member of the All-ACC Academic Team. He is a marketing major from Alpharetta, GA.
