Tanner Smith Named To All-ACC Academic Team

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson guard Tanner Smith was one of 13 players named to the All-ACC Academic Team for men’s basketball on Wednesday, the conference announced. For Smith, it is his third selection in as many years in the program. He is one of eight Clemson players to be named to the All-ACC Academic Team three times. Next year, he will have the opportunity to join Shawan Robinson (2002-06) as the only players in Clemson history named to the team four times.

Smith is a marketing major from Alpharetta, GA. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.

Smith holds averages of 7.7 points and 3.5 rebounds per game and is third on the team in both free throw percentage (.740) and assists (78). He has started 26 games this season for the Tigers (20-10, 9-7 in the ACC).

Joining Smith on the All-ACC Academic Team were John Cahill (Boston College), Tyrone Garland (Virginia Tech), Ryan Kelly (Duke), Luke Loucks (Florida State), Mason Plumlee (Duke), Will Regan (Virginia), Will Sherrill (Virginia), Kyle Singler (Duke), Erik Swoope (Miami), Adrian Thomas (Miami), Mfon Udofia (Georgia Tech) and Tyler Zeller (North Carolina).
