CLEMSON, SC – Clemson senior Demontez Stitt was named third-team All-ACC and classmate Jerai Grant was named to the league’s All-Defensive Team, as announced Monday by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. With Stitt’s selection, it gave the Tiger program an All-ACC player four consecutive years.
Stitt led the Tigers in scoring during the regular season at 14.1 points per game, but had a 15.3 average in conference play. He led Clemson to a 9-7 record and No. 4 seed in this week’s ACC Tournament, the second time in four years the Tiger program has earned a first-round bye.
For the season, Stitt is shooting 43.2 percent overall and 37.8 percent on three-point attempts. He also ranks among the team leaders in free throw accuracy at 73.7 percent. He leads the team with 93 assists and is second with 37 steals.
Grant, an honorable mention All-ACC selection, was named to the All-ACC Defensive Team. It marked the third straight year a Tiger post player was named to the team, as Trevor Booker was on the squad in 2009 and 2010. Grant was third in the ACC with 2.4 blocked shots per game and a big reason the Tigers rank atop the conference in scoring defense, yielding just 60.4 points per game. That figure is currently 14th in the nation.
Grant was second on the squad this season in scoring at 12.4 points per game, 12.6 during ACC play. He led the team with a .579 field goal percentage and also with 6.8 rebounds per game. One of the most improved players in the ACC, he shot 70.6 percent from the free throw line as well.
