Stanley Has Lead at Halfway Point of Honda Classic

March 4, 2011

CLEMSON, SC – Former Clemson All-American Kyle Stanley fired a four under par round of 66 on Friday, and has the lead at the halfway point of the Honda Classic. The event is being played at the PGA National Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Stanley has had rounds of 68-66 in recording a six-under par score of 134 for the first 36 holes, one shot better than Rory Sabbatini, who had a tournament record 64 on Friday. Stanley’s round included six birdies and two bogeys. Stanley is one of just two players to shoot in the 60s each of the first two days on the challenging par 70 course.

Stanley is in his rookie year on the PGA Tour. A three-time All-America at Clemson between 2006-08, Stanley has made the cut in each of his five PGA Tour events so far this year and was 95th on the money list entering this week’s play with over $138,000 in earnings. His best finish was a 13th place at the tournament in Mexico last week.
