Joe Simon

Position: Associate AD / Facilities Management

Joe Simon, a veteran athletic administrator with over a dozen years as assistant and associate athletic director experience, joins the Clemson athletic department as Assistant AD for Facilities Management, director of athletics Dan Radakovich announced today.

Simon was Associate AD for Internal Operations at the University of Central Florida for the past three years, previously serving as Associate AD for Facilities and Event Operations at UCF since 2005. At the Orlando institution, Simon was responsible for day-to-day management and supervision of capital construction and renovation projects as well as facilities, event operations, sports turf/grounds and housekeeping.

“Joe has a wealth of knowledge in both facility construction and management, and he’ll be a great asset for us as we continue to move ahead with our facility initiatives in the coming months and years,” Radakovich said.

Prior to his arrival at UCF, Simon spent the previous four and a half years at UNC-Wilmington as assistant athletic director of facilities and event operations before being promoted to the associate athletic director of internal operations. While at UNC-Wilmington, Simon managed all capital construction projects and supervised the departments of athletic facilities, event management, grounds, and sports medicine.

Prior to his time at UNC-Wilmington, Simon was the travel coordinator and assistant ticket manager at Brown University. While at Brown, Simon assisted with the management of the athletic ticket office, worked directly with coaches to coordinate all aspects of team travel for each of Brown’s 37 varsity sports, monitored travel budgets and oversaw the reconciliation of all bills pertaining to team travel.

In his first stint at UNC-Wilmington, Simon served as the ticket manager/database administrator where he prepared all fundraising reports and served as a contact for a volunteer network of 50 plus individuals that raised funds for the UNCW Seahawk Club’s annual campaign.

Simon’s responsibilities at Clemson include coordination and planning of construction and renovation of all facilities while continuing to develop the department’s master plan. He’ll also serve as the principle contact for all entities external to the athletic department as it pertains to facility construction and management.

Simon holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina in history and a master’s from the University of Tennessee in sports administration. Simon and his wife Amy have a son Dean and a daughter Mallory.
