Dr. Marcia Edwards

Position: Sports Psychology Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Marcia Edwards is a sport psychology postdoctoral fellow for Counseling and Psychological Services. In that role, she works with student-athletes for mental health and wellness out of her office in Nieri Enrichment Center.

Dr. Edwards earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Hampton University in 2011. She completed her masters degree in kinesiology (with a specialization in sport psychology and motor behavior) from University of Tennessee. She went on to receive a doctorate in clinical psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Washington, DC. She worked at Positive Impact Health Centers in Atlanta providing care for minoritized individuals, including low income, LGBTQ, and HIV/AIDS population.

From 2018 to 2019, Dr. Edwards completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Oklahoma within the university counseling center and athletics department. Her areas of clinical interest include sport injury and pain management, interpersonal trauma, diversity, athletic identity, career transitioning/termination, and psychological assessment.

A native of Dayton, Ohio, Marcia enjoys hot yoga, organizing her Pintrest board, and traveling.
