• Daughter of Stephanie & Eddie Opdam
• Sister to Brooke and Nathaniel
• Rhys was a competitive soccer player pretty much her whole life, but she started rowing her freshman year of high school because her sister’s best friend was a rower and really encouraged Rhys to try the sport. There are a lot of reasons why Rhys loves rowing but she said one of the main reasons is the bond that is created with her teammates. Rhys chose to row for Clemson because she loved the team culture and felt at home all over campus. She explained, “I knew it would be somewhere that I would have the change to be myself and grow in a positive direction.”
