Overview: Won the 2021 NCAA Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona with a seven-under-par score of 273….won the event by one shot over Oklahoma State freshman Bo Jin on May 31, 2021…came into the final round trailing Jin by two shots and in second place, Pettit shot an even-par 70 in the final round…shot par or better in all four rounds to gain the victory (68-67-68-70)…second Clemson golfer in history to win the NCAA Championship, he joined Charles Warren (1997, Conway Farms) with that distinction…won the tournament on Larry Penley’s final day as Clemson head coach after 38 years at the helm…Penley walked with Pettit over the final six holes…named first-team All-American by Golf Coaches Association and Golfweek as a senior…honorable mention selection as a freshman…first-team All-ACC as a freshman and senior (a team was not chosen his junior year when season was cut short by COVID19…named to Ping All-Region team as a freshman, junior and senior…finished his career with 71.04 stroke average, third in school history… shot 60 under par over his last 45 rounds of his college career…also third in rounds in the 60s (37), sixth in under-par rounds (52)…second in school history in percentage of rounds at par-or-better with 64 of 98 (.653)… finished his senior year with 69.84 strokeaverage, second best in Clemson history behind Bryson Nimmer’s 69.73 in 2018-19…. if Pettit had just three less strokes over the course of the season he would have broken that record…just second Clemson player in history with season stroke average under 70…had career best round is 63 at Maui Jim on 9-14-19…. starter on three NCAA National Tournament Clemson teams, everyone missed out in 2020 due to Covid19….ranked fourth in the nation in final Golfstat player rankings as a senior, 10th by Golfweekranked 67th by Golfweek and 94th by Golfstat for his junior year in 2019-20… had an outstanding freshman year, his stroke average (70.97) was third best in Clemson history for a freshman two-sport athlete at Lee Scott Academy in Auburn, Ala., he was quarterback of his high school football team and state champion on the golf team… two-year starter as high school quarterback…the No. 35 junior golfer in the country according to the Junior Golf Scoreboard prior to coming to Clemson…two-time State Champion in Alabama, also won Alabama Amateur in 2016 and finished runner-up in 2017….family now lives in Sugar Grove,  North Carolina.

Summer of 2020: Reached match play of both Western Amateur and US Amateur…finished seventh in stroke play at Western Amateur with 282 score for the four rounds…finished 18th in stroke play qualifier at US Amateur….lost in first round of match play of both tournaments….lost in 19 holes in round of 64 in US Amateur.

2020-21:   NCAA Champion, he gained the victory at Grayhawk in Scottsdale, Arizona on Memorial Day, 2021…overcame two-shot deficit to defeat Oklahoma State’s Bo Jin by one shot….had to get up-and-down from 25 yards off the ninth green (his final hole) to finish at seven under par….Jin could not birdie the 18th hole, his final hole of the day, 15 minutes later…Pettit won the tournament with 14 birdies, 51 pars and seven bogeys over the 72 holes…averaged 4.63 on par fives, a tournament best 3.92 on par fours and 3.00 on par threes for the tournament…the 10th ACC player in history to win the NCAA’s, the first since Matt Hill in 2009…Hill won that tournament by twoshots over Clemson’s Kyle Stanley…Pettit finished the year fifth in the nation in scoring average (69.84), ninth in average vs. par (-1.24), 21st in par four scoring (4.00), 25th in par five scoring (4.58) and 31st in par three scoring (3.05)…ranked fourth in the nation according to Golfstat and 10th by Golfweek…just second top 10 final ranking for a Clemson golfer by Golfweek since 2009….ranked 16th in final PGA University rankings…the NCAA Championship was his first medalist honor since his freshman year at Irish Creek, but he had seven top 10 finishes in just eight tournaments for the year, the best percentage of top 10s in Clemson history for a season (.875)…finished the year with team best 69.84 stroke average, was second in rounds under-par, second on team in the 60s, but led the team in rounds at-par-or-better…his score counted towards the Clemson team score in all 25 rounds he played….missed the Palmetto to qualify for the MacKenzie Tour…had seven top 10s, includingfour top four finishes…started the year with ninth-place at the Camp Creek Seminole…finished fourth at Valspar and third at John Hayt in consecutive tournaments in March…finished 10th at ACC Championship, fourth at NCAA Kingston Regional and of course won the National Championship….fifth different Clemson golfer to finish in the top 10 of all three of those playoff tournaments in the same year…big reason Clemson won four tournaments in 2021….Clemson’s top golfer in 13 rounds and top golfer in three tournaments, including both NCAA Tournaments…finished the year with 87 birdies and four eagles…shot par or better in all seven of his NCAA Tournament rounds…that included a streak of five straight rounds in the 60s.

2019-20: Second on the team in stroke average with 70.62 figure, it was sixth best in history for a single season at the time…that was 58th best stroke average in the nation…had nine rounds in the 60s, second best on the team, and 12 rounds under-par, second on the team…his seven-under par 63 at the Maui Jim on September 14 was a career best and the best by a Tiger in the fall…finished with a 12-under-par 198 at the Maui Jim, low 54-hole score by a Tiger in the fall and tied for second best 54-hole score in Clemson history…19 of his 21 rounds were at 75 or better …14 of his 21 rounds were at par or better… had double digits in birdies in five of the seven tournaments, including team best 18 at Maui Jim… had strong 4.00stroke average on par four holes, second on the team and 49th best in the nation…his round counted 20 of 21 times…had best score of the day seven times, tied for most on the team, and had best 54-hole score three times…went from Clemson’s worst player at Carpet Classic (231) to best player at Maui Jim with near record (198)…started the year with a 13-over par 85 at Carpet Classic, then played the last 18 rounds at 29-under-par…Clemson’s best player at Maui Jim, where he finished second with the 198 score, the Golf Club of Georgia, where he was 11th with 216 score, and Ka’anapali Classic, where he was 25th with 207… finished the fall strong with rounds of 70-68-69 at Ka’anapali Classic…had a 3&2 win over Quinn Riley of Duke at Jack Nicklaus Match Play that was important in Clemson’s team tournament win…had 3-0 record against Ohio State and Duke at the Nicklaus Match Play….finished the year strong with second place at Palmetto, he had rounds of 64-69-69 for a 202 total…his second, second-place finish this year.

2018-19:  Finished year with 73.0 stroke average, sixth on the team….started seven of the 12 tournaments, including four stroke-play tournaments in the fall, plus the Jack Nicklaus Match Play…had a pair of top 10 finishes, both in the fall…had six rounds in the 60s for the year, third on the team, even though he played just 21 of the 37 possible rounds…had eight rounds under-par and 10 at par-or-better…got off to a tough start with 68th place finish at Carpet Classic, then had three straight top 12 finishes in national tournaments to finish the fall…had a 69.83 stroke average for the fall portion of the season, second on the team behind Bryson Nimmer…shot even-par at Nike Intercollegiate with rounds of 68-69-73 and finished in 12th place…finished strong second at Golf Club of Georgia, he had three consecutive under-par rounds….had rounds of 68-68-70…finished sixth at Ka’anapali Classic with second consecutive tournament of 10-under-par…his 203 in Hawaii was second best 54-hole tournament of his career…his final round 64 was a career best…Clemson’s best player at Golf Club of Georgia and Ka’anapali Classic…played well at Jack Nicklaus Collegiate, he halved with Caleb Ramirez of Ohio State in first round and beat Spencer Ralston of Georgia 3&2, a big win in Clemson’s 4-2 team victory over Georgia.

2017-18: Ranked No. 35 in the nation by Golfweek and #65 by Golfstat in the final rankings .he was No. 82 and No. 87 by Golfweek and Golfstat, respectively, after the fall so he made quite a jump in thespringhad five top 10s, but all five were top 3 finishes…had a run of four straight top threes in the spring, the first Clemson golfer with at least four straight top 3s since D.J. Trahan had record five in a row in 2001-02… ranked 14th in the nation in par four scoring (3.98), 37th in scoring average at 70.63, 35th in scoring average vs. par and 52nd in subpar strokes/round (4.10)…finished third in his first college tournament with a 209 score, seven-under-par, at the Carpet Classic…had rounds of 70-69-70, he showed his consistency at the outset…finished 17th at Trinity Forest with an even-par 217…after a 217 at Nike Elite, finished at one-under-par at the Golf Club of Georgia…had 68 to finish the tournament and the fall in strong fashion…started his streak of top three finishes with a second-place at Puerto Rico thanks to a 208, five-under-par…he led Clemson to tournament victory…then finished third at Bandon Dunes with a 202, 11-under-par…had final round 65, tied for his best of the year…then won the Irish Creek Invitational with a 209, four-under-par…finished second at Clemson Invitational with 214….shot even-par at ACC Tournament and NCAA Regional (216 at both), helping Clemson to strong second-place finisheshad second round 65 at NCAA Regional to tie his best as a Tiger at the time…his score counted in 28 of 30 rounds this year…had 119 birdies to lead the team, he had at least 10 birdies in nine of his 10 tournaments…had team best 17 birdies in opening tournament of the year at Carpet Classic…had 10 consecutive under-par rounds from October 21 to April 7, longest streak of the yearshot in 60s in five of his last six second-rounds… had the best score of the round 13 times, more than any other Tiger, and had the best tournament five times, more than any other Tiger…averaged 71.10 in final round…average 30.22 putts per round, best among Clemson starters….second highest ranked freshman in the ACC….second on team in under-par rounds with 18 and second in rounds in the 60s with 11…tied Kyle Stanley’s freshman record for rounds in the 60s, a mark that has since been broken by Jacob Bridgeman…26-under-par for his 31 rounds…shot even par or better in nine of his 11 tournaments….

Summer of 2017: Began summer by finishing second at Alabama Amateur…actually tied for first at end of regulation, he lost on third playoff hole…had opening round 73, then had rounds of 69-66-66 to finish 14-under-par 274…finished third at Future Masters junior tournament in June… shot five-under-par 205 after rounds of 72-66-67…finished 20th at the Dunes Club at Southern Amateur…finished eighth at the Azalea Amateur, he shot 66-67 the final two rounds…finished second at his US Amateur qualifier with 136 total…played in the US Junior Amateur and the US Amateur….qualified for match play in both, but lost in first round of both…Pettit and Doc Redman were the only Tigers to reach the US Amateur.

In High School: Alabama State Amateur Champion in 2016, he finished second after losing in a playoff in summer of 2017…won AISA Championship in 2016 and 2017…won the 100th Alabama State Amateur in mid June of 2016 with a 72-hole score of 278….gained the one-shot victory at the Country Club of Birmingham…..two weeks later Pettit captured the Future Masters in Dothan, Ala. thanks to a six-under-par score 204, including a final round 66….shot 31 on his final nine to win the event…in April of 2016 he led his high school to the Alabama State Championship, as he won medalist honors with a 15-under par 129 for the 36-hole event thanks to scores of 64-65….Pettit was also the starting quarterback on the Lee Scott football team, he helped the program to the state playoffs as a junior and a senior…named AISA to the All-Star game in fall of 2016…on the gridiron led Lee Scott to 7-5 record and the playoffs as a junior and senior…complete 51-92 passes for 1031 yards and 11 touchdowns against just four interceptionsalso had 56 rushes for 360 yards  and three touchdowns…averaged 11.2 yards per completion….featured in Golfweek for his ability in two-sports in spring of 2016….played his high school golf for Todd Thompson and his high school football for Robert Maddox.

Personal Information: Born November 16, 1998…majors in sports communications at Clemson…home course is Saugahatchee Country Club…has one career hole-in-one, it took place in 2009 at Indian Pines Country Club in Alabama….son of Kelly and Kevin Pettit…his father played college golf at Huntington College in Alabama with long time PGA player Joe Durant…Turk signed with Clemson in November of 2016….family now lives in North Carolina.
