Sinkler Named ACC Track & Field Women’s Performer-of-the-Week

Jan. 19, 2010

CLEMSON, SC – For the second straight week, the Clemson women’s track & field program has produced an ACC Performer-of-the-Week. Last week, Brianna Rollins won the honor as a first-year freshman. Tuesday, the league honored junior April Sinkler as its women’s weekly top performer.

Sinkler is coming off the Virginia Tech Invitational, held in her home state. She won the high jump with a 5’10” clearance, while finishing runner-up in the long jump (20’8.5″) and triple jump (43’7.25″) as well.

She posted NCAA provisional qualifying marks in all three events. It marks the second straight indoor season she has qualified in all three jumping events.

Sinkler is the Clemson indoor record-holder in the high jump and long jump, and ranks third in school history in the triple jump. She is the defending ACC indoor champion in the high jump and long jump.

Sinkler and her teammates are off this weekend, then return to action Jan. 29-30 at home for the Clemson Games.
