Clemson, SC – Seventeen former Clemson football players are currently on NFL rosters according to NFL.com, the official website of the National Football League. The list includes veteran safety Brian Dawkins of the Philadelphia Eagles and defensive tackle Trevor Pryce of the Baltimore Ravens.
Dawkins is in his 13th season in the NFL and has been to the Pro Bowl six times, tied for the most Pro Bowls among former Clemson players with Michael Dean Perry, who played in six Pro Bowls between 1988 and 1998. Pryce has played in four Pro Bowls and has two Super Bowl Championship rings.
Four teams have two former Clemson players apiece. The Tampa Bay Bucs, New York Jets, St. Louis Rams and San Diego Chargers all have two former Clemson players apiece. The Bucs have two former Tigers at the same position as Gaines Adams and Charles Bennett, teammates at Clemson from 2003-05, are defensive ends with the Bucs.
Clemson has two rookies on NFL rosters in Phillip Merling of the Miami Dolphins and Barry Richardson of the Kansas City Chiefs. Merling was the 32nd pick of the NFL draft, the first selection of the first round, while Richardson went in the sixth round to the Chiefs.
