Seven Tigers Finish Play At ACC Indoor Men’s Tennis Championships

Winston Salem, NC-Clemson’s duo of Marko Gojanovic and Darren Knight advanced to the semifinals of the 32-team doubles tournament while they and five other Clemson tennis players participated in the 2001 ACC Indoor Tennis Championships this weekend in Winston Salem, NC. Afer defeating third-seeded Mike Murray and Justin Kaufmann of Wake Forest in the quaterfinals, the Clemson pair suffered a tie-breaking loss in the semifinals to the first-seeded and eventual champions Ramsey Smith and Mike Yani of Duke.

In singles competition, Gojanovic and Clemson’s Kevin Gottfried advanced to the round of 16 before being eliminated. Also for Clemson, Damiisa Robinson reached the semifinals of the singles consolation bracket before being eliminated by Alex Navinkov of Georgia Tech in three sets. Clemson’s first dual match of the 2001 will be on Febuary 4 against South Alabama at Clemson’s Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
