Audra Smith’s women’s basketball team unofficially opened the 2014-15 season with a short and sharp full-team practice in Littlejohn Coliseum Monday. The day was all about instruction, as it was the coaching staff’s first chance with the new group all at once.
The 2014-15 roster has ten new faces, including nine true freshmen, so the earlier the defensive principles are installed, the easier it can be to adapt.
With a gueling schedule that includes 14 postseason teams from a season ago, the Tigers are wasting no time in setting the tone for expectations, responsibility and team-building. The staff has been working in individuals over the past few weeks, and will continue to work with the full team on a limited basis until practice fully ramps up.
The official season-opener is less than two months away, when the Tigers open with UNCG in Littlejohn on Nov. 14. Over the course of the next few weeks, we’ll keep you updated on player development as we head into the new season.
