School Record Falls for Tiger Track & Field at Stanford Invitational

PALO ALTO, CA – Clemson junior Alyssa Kulik and established a new school record in the women’s 3000m steeplechase to lead Tiger track & field’s efforts at the Stanford Invitational. Kulik broke her own school mark in the event and was one of a handful of student-athletes to perform very well this weekend. Kulik posted a time of 10:18.18 and was runner-up in the women’s steeplechase. It broke her previous school record in the event by over 14 seconds.

Ute Jamrozy in 1986. Ruck’s time was a personal best in the 10K by over 26 seconds, set last season at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in a 13th-place finish.

Ty McCormack finished seventh place in the men’s 5000m competition. The freshman from Gainesville, GA turned in a time of 14:19.44 in the biggest meet of his young track career. He red-shirted the indoor season following an outstanding freshman campaign last fall in cross country.

Chris Slate and Elyse Borisko competed Friday as well. Slate was 12th in the third section of the men’s 1500m run. The Delaware native crossed the finish line with a time of 3:57.67. Borisko posted a time of 17:32.66 in the women’s 5K.

Slate was among a trio of Tigers to compete Saturday in the men’s 800m run, alongside Jasen Turnbull and freshman Nathan Hendershot. The best finisher among the group was Slate, who was 29th out of 56 runners. He posted a time of 1:53.01.

Clemson’s entire track & field teams will return to action next weekend to compete in the Florida Relays.
