Rowing Travels to Rivanna Romp Sunday

Nov. 11, 2005

The Clemson rowing team will travel to Charlottesville, VA on Sunday to take part in the prestigious Rivanna Romp regatta, which will be held at the Rivanna Reservoir. The Tigers are one of nine teams competing at the event and Sunday’s races will serve as the final competition of the fall season for Clemson.

The races will feature four teams that advanced to the NCAA Championships this past May, including Ohio State, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and host Virginia. Also competing in the event on Sunday will be Cincinnati, Miami, North Carolina, and Texas.

The first event the Tigers will compete in is the varsity 8+, which is scheduled for 10:05 AM. Clemson will enter two boats in this race. The race will feature three boats from several schools and four from Virginia. The novice 8+ race will be held at 11:05 AM and the Tigers will again have two boats entered. The varsity 4+ will race at 12:10 PM, with Clemson entering four boats into that competition. The final race of the day for Clemson will be the doubles event, which takes place at 12:15 PM.

Clemson last competed in the Head of the Charles, with the varsity 8+ running a solid race and posting a 19th-place finish out of 47 boats.
