Q & A with Lady Tiger Soccer Newcomers

March 12, 2007

Three Lady Tiger soccer newcomers sat down for a question and answer session last week. Abby Lambert, Erin Moskos and Judea Davis graduated from high school early and are enrolled at Clemson full-time. Lambert is from Basking Ridge, NJ, Moskos is from Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Davis is from Clemson, SC.

1. All three of you graduated high school a semester early. What has been the biggest difference so far as you adjust from the life of a high school student to a college student?

Abby: Besides being so far from home, I am a little bit overwhelmed with the amount of work there is and the lack of time to do it.Erin and Judea: Learning time management. There’s not much free time to juggle classes and soccer.

2. Tell me how the game differs from club soccer to college soccer?

Abby: In college soccer there is more depth so you are always battling for your position.Erin: I’ve had to learning a new formation, and I’m not used to playing a 4-3-3.Judea: It is very competitive. The speed of play is a lot faster as well.

3. I am sure the strength and fitness level is a lot different than high school. Can you tell me what it is like at Clemson?

Abby: The strength and conditioning has been more challenging here, but it is very rewarding knowing that I am getting better.Erin: The strength coaches make it more of a progression series, which has helped me to adapt more easily.Judea: The team has set very high standards in all aspects. Therefore, everything is played at a high level already since that is priority.

4. What do you like about the spring practices so far?

Abby: Spring practices allow me to work on my game and improve the weaker aspects so I will be ready in the fall.Erin: We split up into certain groups and work on techniques, and then we put it together by playing in games.Judea: I love how spring practice is geared towards individual development. There is no reason you should not improve in the spring.

5. Erin and Abby you moved far from home. What has been the biggest challenge for you two? How has the team helped in any of those challenges?

Abby: It’s been hard not seeing my family, but many of the girls on the team have helped by making me feel at home.Erin: The hardest part was leaving my friends, but the team is so helpful in accepting all of us into their groups and treating us like family right from the start.

6. What is your favorite meal to eat when you do go home?

Abby: SteakErin: Greek food that my mom makes.Judea: I don’t have a favorite. I just love to eat! That’s why I really have to be disciplined.

7. Who is your favorite non-soccer athlete?

Abby: Lance Armstrong – He is inspiring.Erin: My brother Daniel – It is always nice to have him there for me and to be able to talk to him, knowing he went through a big change just as I did.Judea: My dad, my sister Jenel and my twin brothers.

8. How would you describe the coaches?

Abby: Personable and caring.Erin: They are tough and competitive and they expect us to do well. They are also very reasonable and understanding.Judea: I think they all balance each other well and it is great to watch them interact. I believe they are an integral part of the team’s success.

9. What are a few things you look forward to for the fall season?

Abby: The whole college soccer experience, and playing against the other teams in the ACC!Erin: I am ready to experience the game of college soccer.Judea: I look forward to officially being a Tiger and playing in the ACC, which has dominated women’s soccer.

10. If there was one thing you could suggest for a prospective student-athlete that wants to play at Clemson, what would it be?

All Three: Try to have a balance between soccer, school and social life.

11. Who are some players you admire on the team?

All three players agreed that everyone on the team has set high standards.

We admire that the team reached the Elite 8 and earned the second highest GPA out of all of the athletic teams at Clemson. The team isn’t satisfied with that. The team constantly strives for more and wants to get to the Final Four in 2007.

Thanks for your time and good luck on and off the field!
