Play Concludes at Duckworth Family Fall Classic

CLEMSON, SC – Play concluded at the Duckworth Family Fall Tennis Classic on Sunday at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center in Clemson, SC. The three-day event hosted more than 20 men’s and women’s teams, and featured a total of 16 singles flights and eight doubles flights.

Sunday featured the singles finals in both men’s and women’s play, following the doubles championships, which came on Saturday. All told, 288 matches were contested over the course of the event.

“I’ve been here 16 seasons, and this is the largest collegiate tennis tournament that I’ve seen at Clemson,” said Head women’s tennis coach Nancy Harris, now in her 16th season. “The enthusiasm and appreciation from the student-athletes that participated really says it all. They love the event, and seem to want to come back. They have really felt the spirit of the great Clemson hospitality, and have felt the generous spirit of the Duckworth family.”

“Ed and Jane have been out here during the tournament, and have watched the play throughout the tournament. The Pavilion is accomplishing what they had hoped for. It’s a place for great tennis viewing, meeting, and that’s a great thing. The format had more than 100 participants, and everyone got three matches in singles and doubles, so that every competitor that leaves here today will have more experience that they had just a week ago.”

“I am very grateful to Tournament Director Scott Kidd, Associate Director Ken Long, and the Duckworth family that have worked to make this tournament event truly special.”

The Clemson teams will be in action this week at the ITA Carolina Regional Championships.
